"We ported our old number across without any downtime. The whole process was handled for us and customers never noticed a thing. Brilliant service."
Transfer your existing UK business phone number to Team-Connect in 5–10 working days. Zero downtime. No customer disruption. Get AI call handling, smart routing and full analytics from day one.
Number porting is the Ofcom-regulated process of moving your existing phone number from one provider to another — without changing the number itself.
Your business number is on your website, van, business cards, Google listing and in your customers' phones. Changing it means losing enquiries. Porting means you keep it — forever — and simply move where it rings.
Once your number is on Team-Connect you unlock time-based routing, hunt groups, call recording, voicemail-to-email and our optional 24/7 AI Receptionist — all on the same number your customers already call.
Many businesses are paying £20–£50/month for a basic line rental with none of the modern features. Team-Connect starts at £9.99/month and includes features your current provider would charge extra for.
Under UK telecoms law, your number belongs to you — not your provider. They cannot block a port request or hold your number hostage. Team-Connect handles all communications with your existing provider on your behalf.
We manage the entire process for you. Most customers spend less than 10 minutes on their side.
Create your account and choose a plan. Set up your routing, greetings and team members so everything is ready before the port lands.
From your dashboard click "Port a Number". Enter your existing number and your current provider's account details.
Upload a recent bill from your current provider. This is required by Ofcom to confirm you are the account holder for that number.
Team-Connect contacts your existing provider and coordinates the transfer on your behalf. You'll receive updates at each stage.
On your agreed porting date, your number switches to Team-Connect instantly. Calls route through your new setup from that moment.
Team-Connect supports porting of the most common UK business number formats. Here's what we can and cannot accept.
All UK local numbers with 01 or 02 prefixes. This covers every city, town and region in the UK — from 020 London to 0161 Manchester to 01865 Oxford and hundreds more.
✓ Supported03 numbers are charged at the same rate as geographic calls and are popular for businesses that operate nationally. These can be ported to Team-Connect without issue.
✓ SupportedIf your business uses a mobile number as its main contact, you can port it to Team-Connect. Calls will still ring on your mobile via call divert, but you gain all the smart routing and AI features on top.
✓ SupportedIf you are currently on another VoIP platform (BT, Vonage, RingCentral, etc.) and have a geographic or non-geographic number, you can move it to Team-Connect. The process is the same as porting from a traditional provider.
✓ SupportedNumbers with 084, 087 or 09 prefixes are premium rate numbers regulated differently under Ofcom rules. These cannot be ported to Team-Connect at this time.
✗ Not SupportedFreephone numbers have separate porting rules and cannot currently be ported to Team-Connect. If you have a freephone number and want to discuss your options, contact our team directly.
✗ Not SupportedNot sure if your number can be ported? Our team will check it for you free of charge before you commit to anything.
Check My Number →Gather these five things before you begin. Most of it is already on your phone bill.
The full number you want to transfer, including the full dialling code (e.g. 0161 123 4567). Make sure this is the number shown on your current bill and on your provider's account.
The telecoms company you are leaving — shown on your bill. This might be BT, Sky, Virgin Media, Vonage, TalkTalk, EE or any other provider. We need this to contact them on your behalf.
Found at the top of your bill or in your online account. This is how your current provider identifies your account. Without it, the port request may be rejected by the Losing Provider.
A PDF or photo of a bill dated within the last three months from your current provider. This is your proof of ownership and is required by Ofcom regulations for all UK port requests.
The address registered with your current provider for this account — usually the address where the line is installed or where bills are sent. This must match exactly what your provider has on file.
Here is a typical porting timeline from the moment you submit your request.
You submit your port request from your Team-Connect dashboard with your number, provider details and proof of ownership. You receive a confirmation email immediately. Your existing service continues to work normally from this point.
We check your details against industry records and submit the formal port request to your current provider (the Losing Provider). If any information needs correcting, we will contact you straight away so there is no delay.
Ofcom regulations require your current provider to process the request within a set window. Most providers complete this within 2–3 working days. Some may contact you directly — if they do, simply confirm you have authorised the port request.
Once the port is approved, Team-Connect confirms the exact porting date and time with you. This is the moment your number will switch from your old provider to Team-Connect. You will be notified in advance so you can be ready.
The switchover happens automatically — usually within seconds. Calls begin routing through your Team-Connect setup immediately. Your old provider's service for that number ends. There is no gap in service during the transition.
Some providers take longer than others. Team-Connect monitors every port request actively and will chase your provider if they delay beyond the Ofcom-mandated window.
The actual switchover takes seconds. Here is exactly what to expect on the day your number moves.
We send a confirmation the day before your port date so you know exactly when to expect the switch.
At the agreed time, the number migrates from your old provider to Team-Connect — usually completing in under 60 seconds.
Immediately after the port, all calls to your number follow the routing rules you already set up in your dashboard.
We send you a confirmation email and SMS the moment the port completes so you know it has gone through successfully.
Your AI receptionist, time-of-day routing, call recording and analytics all activate on your ported number from the first call.
Your previous provider's service for that number ends automatically. You do not need to contact them separately about the number.
Same number. Completely different experience. Here is what Team-Connect gives you that most traditional providers don't.
Answer every call even when you're unavailable. The AI greets callers in your business name, answers FAQs, takes messages, books appointments and sends SMS confirmations — all automatically, any time of day.
Send calls to your mobile during business hours, a colleague in the evening and voicemail at the weekend — or the AI at all times. Configure once from your dashboard and never miss a call again.
Ring your whole team simultaneously or in order until someone picks up. Assign calls to the right person based on the number dialled, time of day or caller ID. Works across mobile, desk phone and softphone.
Record every inbound and outbound call automatically. Access the full audio archive from your dashboard for compliance, training and dispute resolution. Essential for financial services, legal and healthcare businesses.
See call volumes, answer rates, peak hours, missed calls and call duration in real time. Know exactly how your phone line is performing and make better decisions about staffing and campaigns.
Every voicemail is transcribed and sent to your email the moment it arrives. Never sit through the voicemail menu again. Reply directly from your inbox or get the caller's number by SMS for a quick callback.
Once on Team-Connect you can add new numbers across 100+ UK area codes in under a minute. Perfect for multi-location businesses, marketing campaigns or testing new regions without changing your main number.
Plans from £9.99/month with no hidden fees, no long contracts and no engineer call-out charges. Cancel anytime. You will almost certainly be paying less than you are now and getting significantly more.
All call recordings and data are stored securely in UK-based infrastructure. We are fully GDPR compliant, your data is never sold to third parties and you can export or delete your data at any time.

Most UK number ports complete within 5 to 10 working days from submission of a valid port request. The exact timeline depends on your current provider — some are faster than others. Geographic 01/02 numbers generally port in 5 working days. Team-Connect monitors every active port and will actively chase your provider if they delay beyond the Ofcom-mandated window.
No — there is zero downtime. UK number porting is designed to be seamless. The switchover happens within a short window (usually seconds) on your agreed porting date. Right up until that moment your old service continues working normally. The moment the port completes, calls route through Team-Connect. Most customers' callers never notice any change whatsoever.
Yes — your existing service works completely normally throughout the entire porting process. You can still make and receive calls on your number at any point up until the switchover itself. There is no period during which your number is inactive or unavailable.
Under UK telecoms law you have the right to port your number regardless of your contract. Your current provider cannot block or unreasonably delay a port request. However, they may charge an early termination fee if you are within a fixed-term contract — check your terms before initiating the port. Team-Connect will confirm your right to port if you are unsure and can advise on the process.
You will need: your existing phone number in full, the name of your current provider, your account number or reference from your bill, a copy of your most recent bill (within 3 months) as proof of ownership, and the billing address registered with your current provider. All of this is typically found on your monthly phone bill. Our porting team will guide you through it step by step.
Port rejections are common and almost always fixable. The most frequent reason is a mismatch between the information you provided and what your current provider holds on file — usually the account number or billing address. Team-Connect will notify you of the rejection, explain the reason and help you resubmit with corrected details. Rejections rarely cause more than 1–2 days of delay.
Yes — and we strongly recommend it. Sign up for Team-Connect as soon as you raise your port request. You can configure your full call routing, set time-of-day rules, record your AI greeting, add team members and test everything before your number arrives. On porting day everything is already live and waiting — your number simply transfers in and starts working immediately.
No. Team-Connect does not charge a porting fee. The service is included with all plans from £9.99/month. Your current provider may charge an early exit fee if you are in contract — check your terms before you start. There are no hidden charges on the Team-Connect side at any point in the process.
Yes. Bulk porting is fully supported. If you have multiple numbers across one or more providers, Team-Connect can manage several port requests simultaneously. This is common for businesses with multiple office lines, marketing tracking numbers or multiple locations. Contact our team directly to plan a bulk port and we will coordinate the whole thing.
Your old provider's service for that number ends automatically when the port completes — you do not need to contact them about the number itself. You may still need to cancel any other services or hardware rental with them separately, and you should check your contract for any notice period or final payment obligations.
Yes. Your number is yours and you have the full legal right to port it to any UK provider at any time. Team-Connect will support an outward port if you request one. We operate on monthly rolling contracts with no lock-in, so you are never trapped. We are confident you will not want to leave, but we believe complete flexibility is the only way to run a fair service.
In number porting, your Gaining Provider is the company you are moving to — in this case Team-Connect. Your Losing Provider is the company you are leaving — your current telecoms supplier. Ofcom regulations require the Losing Provider to cooperate with the port and complete it within a mandated timeframe. Team-Connect as your Gaining Provider handles all direct communications with your Losing Provider, so you do not need to deal with them yourself.
Port to Team-Connect in 5–10 working days. Zero porting fee. Zero downtime. AI and smart routing from day one.
